Ms. Beth Mutumba

Ms. Beth Mutumba is a Science Officer in the Research Management and Quality Assurance Directorate at UNCST. She has a Masters in Health Sciences in Bioethics scholar with a certificate in Administrative Law

She has 10 years’ experience in ethics and research regulatory experience. She initiated the first thematic national dissemination symposium of research at the UNCST on research in HIV/AIDS in fishing communities in 2015 and held the symposium on gender-based violence, research in wildlife, COVIID research in 2016, 2017 and 2020 respectively. She was the technical lead for the development of the National Research Information Management System (NRIMS) under the Consortium for Research (CREDU) and EDCTP funded project (2017/2019) and has been the coordinator of the Scaling Up of Research Ethics Committee Capacity (SCRECU) project 2019/2021 an additional grant funded under the EDCTP geared towards the implementation of the NRIMS developed under the CREDU. She has the been a task force committee member for the development of the National Guidelines for Research Conduct amidst COVID-19 pandemic 2020 and the National Research Bio-banking Guideines-2021. She is currently coordinating the revision of the National Guidelines for Research Involving Humans as Research Particpants-2014. She is currently serving as member to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Bioethics Committee. Given her research regulatory experience and grants management, Beth will provide staff time as an administrator of the project.
